Terms of Service

Marralhinha Online

Marralhinha Online ("the game") is a free-to-play hobby project with an optional cosmetic Supporter Pack, made and run by Ryan Polasky ("I", "me"). By playing, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't play.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age to use Discord where you live if that is higher. If you play through Discord, you also have to follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Your account

The game creates a guest account for you automatically, and you can link it to Discord to keep your progress across devices. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Guest accounts live in your browser, so clearing your browser data can lose a guest account for good.

Marbucks, lootboxes and cosmetics

• Marbucks are an in-game currency you earn by playing. They cannot be bought with real money, and neither Marbucks nor any in-game item can be sold, traded or exchanged for real money or anything of value outside the game.
• Lootboxes (chests) are opened with Marbucks only. Their drop rates are shown in the shop.
• Cosmetics are purely visual and give no gameplay advantage.
• The optional Supporter Pack is a one-time purchase through Discord. Discord handles payment, checkout, receipts and applicable refunds; the game checks your Discord entitlement to provide access to its badge and cosmetics. If Discord revokes the entitlement, access ends. You must link the purchasing Discord account to use the pack. The optional Halloween Pack is a separate one-time Discord purchase that is only offered during October; it works the same way and, once bought, stays yours unless Discord revokes the entitlement.
• Marbucks, items and progress are a license to use them in the game, not property you own. I may rebalance, change or remove them, and progress may be reset or lost (for example because of bugs or maintenance).

Play fair and be nice

Don't:

• Cheat, exploit bugs, or use scripts or automation to play or to farm rewards
• Try to break, overload, or get unauthorized access to the game or its servers
• Use offensive, hateful or impersonating names, or use chat or reactions to harass, threaten or spam other players
• Post other people's personal information, or anything illegal or sexual, in chat
• Break the law while using the game

I may rename, reset, suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, and I may remove anyone from the game at any time.

The game itself

Marralhinha is a traditional board game from Terceira, in the Açores. This digital version (its software, design and artwork) was made by Ryan Polasky. The source code is published on GitHub.

The game isn't made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Discord.

No guarantees

The game is provided "as is" and "as available". Playing is free; the Supporter Pack is optional. I don't promise that it will always be online, bug-free, or that your progress will never be lost. I may change, pause or shut down the game at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or in-game progress, arising from your use of the game. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be excluded, including any applicable consumer rights for paid purchases.

Privacy

How your data is handled is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, I'll update them here and change the effective date above. Continuing to play after an update means you accept the new terms.
